B-Movies were originally created to accompany the main feature in a double billing. The term has now broadened and refers to any film that has been produced on a low budget; B-Movies often use unknown actors and generally do not have special effects and elaborate sets. The stiff definition given to B-Movies is often condemned by film buffs due to the fact that they consider them to be a genre unto themselves and worthy of a more illustrious and selective definition.
Examples of well known B-Movies include ‘The Land That Time Forgot’, ‘Eraserhead’ and ‘The Evil Dead’.
